Irkutsk, 2 February 2010 - On 2 February 2010 at the production workshop of Shelekhov Powder Metallurgy, RUSAL’s facility producing aluminium powders in the Irkutsk region, there was an explosion which resulted in a fire covering 700 sq. m. The investigation commission has been established. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
As the result of the accident one man died.
At the moment the fire has been localised. The production equipment has been stopped. There is no threat to the environment. This accident did not affect the aluminium production volumes of RUSAL.
