RUSAL is one of the world's largest producers of bauxites and alumina (aluminium oxide, Аl2О3) – the main raw material for producing aluminium. 

The Company's refineries produce mainly G-00 smelter-grade alumina, made up of the raw materials, bauxites and nepheline ore. The resulting high-quality product fully conforms to GOST 30558–98 requirements.

Alumina is produced by refineries of the Alumina Division – the Bogoslovsk Aluminium Smelter, Ural Aluminium Smelter, Achinsk Alumina Refinery, Aughinish, Windalco, QAL, Friguia, Nikolaev alumina refinery. Aluminium oxide is produced using Bayer technology, the sintering method and their parallel application. 

Moreover, UAZ produces special grades of non-metallurgical alumina – GK-1, GEF and GSK. It is applied to produce abrasive tools, refractory and ceramic products, insulators, etc.
