Silicon

Silicon is produced at facility JSC Silicon in Shelekhov. It produces two types of products – smelter-grade silicon for producing AlSi alloys and refined silicon for the chemical and electrical industries. Customers are supplied with silicon of two fractions – 0–5 mm and 10–100 mm. Silicon is produced by the thermal method in one- and three-phase ore-thermal furnaces.

RUSAL silicon is supplied to both Russian and foreign customers and meets the requirements of Russian and international standards or customer specifications, whilst being registered in the REACH system (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals).

Another product of the Company's silicon production is microsilica, which is widely applied in the production of construction and refractory materials.
