UC RUSAL comments on Vladimir Potanin’s offer to buy 16.66% of Norilsk Nickel
Moscow, 7 August 2008 – On 5 August 2008 the ONEXIM Group released a statement announcing that it was about to complete the consolidation of a 16.66% stake in Norilsk Nickel and to sell this stake to Vladimir Potanin under the terms of an irrevocable offer.  UC RUSAL, which owns a 25% plus two shares stake in Norilsk Nickel, believes that Interros and Vladimir Potanin must clarify the situation and requests for the involvement of the Federal Financial Markets Service.

UC RUSAL’s management to visit Norilsk Nickel Polar Division
Moscow, 5 August 2008 – UC RUSAL, which owns a 25% plus two shares stake in Norilsk Nickel, has today announced that a delegation of its management team will visit the Polar Division of Norilsk Nickel. Members of the delegation include UC RUSAL and Norilsk Nickel Board Member Oleg Deripaska and UC RUSAL’s CEO and member of Norilsk Nickel’s Board, Alexander Bulygin.

UC RUSAL continues environmental upgrade of its aluminium smelters
Moscow, 15 July 2008 – UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium and alumina producer, has announced the commissioning of a dry scrubber at its Volgograd Aluminium Smelter (VgAZ). The installation, which cost the company over USD 12 mln, is the key element of the modernisation programme on this production site and is able to treat 99.5% of the total emissions level.

UC RUSAL invests more than USD 2 million to find new uses for aluminium
Moscow, 18 June 2008 – UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium and alumina producer, has announced plans to invest more than USD 2 million to find the best new applications for aluminium and to develop innovative products. As part of this Global Technology and Innovation Research Project UC RUSAL and the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) are inviting leading universities and research centers from around the world to apply for the funding of innovative research projects.
