A unique exhibition of aluminium artifacts opens in Moscow
The exhibition will display over 30 unique aluminium artifacts from different periods of its evolution, demonstrating its unlimited range of applications — from dishes and furniture to musical instruments, jewelry and gadgets.
A wide range of artifacts and models are on display including: a Harley-Davidson V-Rod Muscle VRSCF motorcycle (2012), a Audi R8 sportcar, “Sputnik-1” - Earth's first artificial satellite, the GLONASS-K navigation satellite, a Braun T-1000 radio designed by Diter Rams (1963), an aluminium dress designed by Paco Rabanne (1966) and many others.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Russian aluminium industry. Russia’s first aluminium was produced in 1932 at the Volkhov aluminium smelter, which is now part of RUSAL.
“Although our industry turned 80 this year, the age of aluminium has just begun. Global demand for the light metal is growing fast and is driven by rising living standards, housing and infrastructure development and transport and high-tech industries. The opportunities for aluminium are endless and we hope you will come and join us at our exhibition to witness and appreciate for yourselves the impact aluminium has had on our daily lives and its potential for the future.” said RUSAL's Deputy CEO Vera Kurochkina.
