Oleg Deripaska named Aluminium Industry Ambassador of the Year
The 28th Metal Bulletin International Aluminium Conference was held in Geneva, September 17-19, 2013 followed by its inaugural Global Awards for Excellence in Aluminium recognizing the most efficient and innovative companies globally in the sector.
Independent judges and leading industry experts in the field recognized Mr Deripaska’s great influence within the global aluminium industry and the wider market with Metal Bulletin highlighting at the awards that Oleg Deripaska “has taken it upon himself to lead attempts among aluminium producers across the world to reduce the level of excess stock overhanging the market by cutting production at Moscow-based UC RUSAL. His approach is already starting to lead to positive results across the wider market, as smelters start to close inefficient and eco-unfriendly production lines to address the problem of overcapacity in the industry. Deripaska has undoubtedly played a key role in the wider aluminium market, by shaping and leading a global debate and making the case for reform of an industry”.
In addition to Oleg Deripaska being named Industry Ambassador of the Year, RUSAL was shortlisted as ‘Aluminum Smelting Company of the Year’ alongside Avon Metals UK, Dubai Aluminium and Emirates Aluminium.
