RUSAL adopts a Responsible Sourcing Policy
Krasnoyarsk, 9 November 2022 – The Board of RUSAL, a leading global aluminium producer, approved a Responsible Sourcing Policy.
The Responsible Sourcing Policy was reviewed and adopted by the Board of Directors in Krasnoyarsk. The Policy establishes main requirements for suppliers of raw materials, goods, works and services to comply with the principles of responsible business conduct, and also regulates internal corporate processes for selecting suppliers.
The purpose of the Policy is to build an effective high quality supply chain management system with responsible suppliers for all types of the Company's operations. The policy defines RUSAL's approach to the selection of suppliers and contractors, establishes the basic requirements for quality control, environmental protection and observance of social, economic and cultural human rights. The Policy is based on internal anti-corruption and anti-bribery regulations, as well as Russian legislation and the principles and norms of international law.
“Responsible Sourcing Policy is an integral part of sustainable business development practices. The adoption of the Policy is one more step towards the development of RUSAL's relations with partners and suppliers. The Company has been conducting a partial assessment of suppliers for many years in a row, taking into account environmental and social criteria. In 2015, we enacted our internal Business Partner Code. This year, we helped some of our counterparts having their ESG maturity assessed, and the Responsible Sourcing Policy reflects our intention to make this exercise mandatory by 2025,” said Irina Bakhtina, Chief Sustainability Officer of RUSAL.
