RUSAL becomes a general partner of the International Grand Final "Metal Cup"

Moscow, 6 September 2021 – RUSAL (SEHK: 486, Moscow Exchange: RUAL), a leading global aluminium producer, becomes a general partner of the Grand Final of the International Championship of technological strategy "Metal Cup. Sustainable Development".

In 2021, the Grand Final of the international case championship among metallurgical students will be held online on September 7. Consisting of a total of 13 teams, the participants of the championship are youth teams from Russia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brazil, Guinea, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, China, Sri Lanka and Serbia. As part of the event program, video conferences with the participation of experts will be hosted, and the championship partners will present their HR programs.
All presentations of individual technological projects from the participating teams will also be held online. Metal Cup 2021 projects focus on issues related to sustainable development and reducing the negative impact on the environment. During the Grand Final, the expert commission will select particularly promising projects.

Within the program of the championship, a ZOOM café session will be hosted, where each of the participants will be able to get acquainted with the current trends of the global metallurgical industry, offer their own solution to the tasks set, and get feedback from experts. During this session, the representative of RUSAL will talk about the promotion of low carbon aluminium under the ALLOW brand, which allows customers to guarantee that products made from ALLOW meet strict environmental requirements, and in turn, calculate and reduce the carbon footprint and make a positive contribution to the climate strategy.

This is not only an opportunity for young specialists to solve interesting and relevant cases from different areas of metallurgy, but also for us to see a fresh look at the current challenges of the industry, and, perhaps, form an external talent pool of promising young people, on whom the future of metallurgy depends," said Natalia Albrekht, Deputy General Director for Human Resources at RUSAL.

About "Metal Cup"
The Grand Final of the International Championship of technological strategy "Metal Cup. Sustainable Development" has been held annually since 2017. It was attended by more than 5,000 representatives of the world metallurgical student community, young scientists and industry experts. 95 projects in total have been successfully implemented as a result of the championship.
