RUSAL is a sponsor of Harbor’s 13th Global Aluminum Summit
Moscow, Chicago, September 9, 2021 – RUSAL America Corporation, RUSAL’s subsidiary in North America is the Platinum sponsor of the 13th HARBOR Aluminum Summit, a major global forum for executives and decision makers across the entire aluminium value chain that starts today in Chicago. More than 700 participants, representing more than 360 companies in the global metals industry, are attending this year’s Summit.
Representatives of marketing and sales of RUSAL will take part in panel sessions, discussing growing demand for low-carbon aluminium and the impact of coronavirus on logistics.
“The Harbor Aluminum Summit is the first significant industry gathering in over a year and we are grateful for the opportunity to meet our customers and bring to life our low-carbon aluminium solutions in North America,” said Steve Hodgson, Director of Sales and Marketing of RUSAL.
RUSAL is the biggest and lowest-cost producer of aluminium outside of China. RUSAL’s American branch reliably supplies more than 300,000 tonnes of environmentally friendly, low-carbon aluminium every year to various North American companies.
“We are especially proud to be a Platinum sponsor of the 13th Harbor Aluminum Summit at a time when we must remain united in our industry in addressing the impacts of climate change, and ensuring a more sustainable post-pandemic recovery,” said C. Brian Hesse, President and CEO of RUSAL America. “Sustainability is a global priority and we’re fortunate many North American companies are committed to decarbonizing their businesses.”
RUSAL’s low-carbon aluminium brand ALLOW includes primary aluminium and aluminium-based alloys, as well as foil and powders. The Company uses over 95% of renewable energy coming from hydropower for producing aluminium that has a carbon footprint of 2.4 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per tonnes of aluminium produced (Scope 1 and 2), which is five times less than the world average of 12.5 tonnes equivalent.
