Sayanogorsk Aluminium Smelter launches a new gas scrubber

The new gas scrubber features excellent environment-saving performance indicators and has been designed for a pilot potroom equipped with the Russian most powerful cells (RA-400 and RA-400T).

The research and engineering works took over two years. During this period, all necessary permits were obtained, and filters for treated and untreated fumes, smoke exhausters, gas ducts and compressors were installed. The assembly and start-up operations were supervised by the staff of UC RUSAL Engineering and Technology Centre.

SAZ is the first production site of the company to install and launch new-generation gas treatment equipment which meets the highest environmental standards. It is planned that this model will equip all the new greenfield smelting operations of UC RUSAL.
