Maxim Sokov, who was previously Director of Investment Management of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, has been appointed Director for Corporate Strategy and Development, effective from 16 June 2010. He will replace Artem Volynets, who will join En+. In his new position, Maxim Sokov will focus on new opportunities for RUSAL to develop and diversify its businesses, and strengthening the company’s competitive advantages to increase its market value. He will also continue to be responsible for cooperation with the management and shareholders of MMC Norilsk Nickel.

Investor and analyst relations will form part of the Directorate for Capital Markets reporting directly to Oleg Mukhamedshin, Director for Capital Markets.

Biography

Maxim Sokov has worked for RUSAL since 2004. From 2008 to 2010 he was Director of Investment Management of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, as well as General Director of LLC UC RUSAL Investment Management. From 2007 to 2008 he headed the Department for Strategic Projects. Prior to that, he was Head of the Department for Mergers and Acquisitions of RUSAL.

From 2002 to 2004 Maxim Sokov worked as a lawyer for the Moscow Representative Office of Herbert Smith CIS Legal Services.

Since 2008 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel, and a member of the Board of Directors of OJSC OGK-3 since 2009.

Maxim Sokov was born in 1979.  In 2000, he graduated with honors from the Russian State Tax Academy under the Russian Ministry of Taxes (major – “law”) and in 2002 from New York University School of Law with a Master's of Law degree.
