UC RUSAL sells 50% stake in the company licenced to mine at Ekibastuzskoye coal field to Samruk-Energo
Moscow, 24 December, 2008 - UC RUSAL, the world's largest aluminium and alumina producer, has  completed a sale of a 50% stake in a company which holds the coal production licence at the Bogatyr and Severny deposits of the Ekibastuzskoye coal field in the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan to Samruk-Energo, a subsidiary of the Kazakhstan state-controlled national welfare fund Samruk-Kazyna*.

UC RUSAL statement regarding the situation in Nigeria
Moscow, 20 December 2008 - This morning in Nigeria, in the southern part of Ikot Abasi town a group of militants attacked a township of UC RUSAL's employees, who work at Alscon aluminium smelter. Two employees have been kidnapped. The company is undertaking all possible measures to resolve the situation and free the hostages.

UC RUSAL invests almost USD 35 mln in the development of a modified RA-400 cell to be used at the Taishet Aluminium Smelter
Moscow, 9 December 2008 - UC RUSAL, the world's largest producer of alumina and aluminium, has announced an expansion of the RA-400 pilot area at the Sayanogorsk Aluminium Smelter to test several new RA-400T cells that will be used at the Taishet aluminium smelter, which is currently under construction. The RA-400T upgrade and operational testing programme has cost the company approximately USD 35 mln.

UC RUSAL withdraws claim against Norilsk Nickel on share buyback
Moscow, 1 December 2008 – UC RUSAL, which owns a 25% plus two shares stake in Norilsk Nickel, announced that it has withdrawn the case, which UC RUSAL filed against Norilsk Nickel in the Arbitration Court of the Krasnoyarsk Region seeking a cancellation of a resolution of Norilsk Nickel Board of Directors on the company’s shares buyback.

<P>Moscow, 26 November 2008 – The first global study into Russian Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has shown that as Russian business goes global, sustainability has been established as a key priority of their strategic development. The international research project, From Russia with Love: A national chapter on the global CSR agenda, conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), has indicated that 90% of Russian majors have either a CSR or sustainability programme already in place or in development.</P>
