Alpart announces suspension of operations
Moscow, 18 March 2009 - Alpart (Alumina Partners of Jamaica), owned 65% by RUSAL and 35% by Hydro Aluminium, has announced that owing to the continuing severe decline in the global aluminum industry and the corresponding reduction of alumina demand worldwide, the company will temporarily suspend operations at its mining and refinery operations in Jamaica for a period no less than 12 months commencing May 15th, 2009. Alumina product has experienced a drastic 60% price reversal since July 2008. Approximately 900 permanent employees will be made redundant.

UC RUSAL announces new appointments

UC RUSAL signs a standstill agreement
Moscow, 6 March 2009 – UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium and alumina producer, today announces that it has signed a standstill agreement in relation to the restructuring of its debt to the international lending banks. The standstill will be effective for a period of two months with the possibility of extension for a further month and will provide RUSAL with additional liquidity.

RUSAL converts Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter to colloidal anode paste
Moscow, 26 January 2009 – UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium and alumina producer, announces that it has completed the conversion of one potroom at its Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter (KrAZ) to the colloidal anode paste technology. The economic effect from this innovation at one potroom alone can be up to USD 1 mln annually.
