                                                UC RUSAL to expand cast-house production at Irkutsk Aluminium Smelter
                                                    Moscow, 22 May 2008 – UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium and alumina producer, is pleased to announce the investment of around USD 50 million into the expansion of cast-house production at Irkutsk Aluminium Smelter. The expansion is required due to the previous introduction of two new potrooms, which  increased production capacity of the smelter by 170,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum. The new cast-house workshop will be put into full operation at the end of 2008.

                                                UC RUSAL signs an agreement to sell a 50% coal mining share in the Ekibastuzskoye coal field to Samruk Holding as part of joint venture
                                                    Almaty, 17 April 2008 – UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium and alumina producer, announces that, within the framework of its joint venture in Kazakhstan, it has signed an agreement to sell a 50% share in coal mining at the Ekibastuzskoye coal field to Samruk Holding managing state assets.  The coal field is located at the Bogatyr and Severny coal mines in the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan.

                                                UC RUSAL expands its cathode producing capacity in China
                                                    Moscow, 20 March 2008 - UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium and alumina producer, is pleased to announce that the company has acquired a cathode plant in Baoguan, which is located in the administrative centre of Taiyuan, within the Shanxi Province, in the People’s Republic of China. The plant’s existing annual capacity is currently 9,300 tonnes of cathode blocks and the company plans to increase this to 20,900 tonnes by 2010. The total investment in the plant’s development is planned to exceed USD 20 million.

                                                UC RUSAL announces global competition to find the best ideas for new uses of aluminium
                                                    TMS 2008 Annual Meeting & Exhibition, New Orleans, March 10, 2008 – UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium and alumina producer, announced today a long-term Global Technology and Innovation Research Project designed to involve the world’s leading universities and research centres in the identification of innovative and sustainable applications for aluminium products. Between 2009 and 2011, up to 10 research projects will be commissioned and will feature some of the leading universities and research centres in the Americas, Asia, Australia, Europe and Russia.

                                                UC RUSAL launches ALSCON aluminium smelter in Nigeria
                                                    Ikot Abasi, Nigeria, 22 February 2008 – UC RUSAL, the world’s largest aluminium and alumina producer, is pleased to announce the launch of the ALSCON aluminium smelter in Nigeria. The company plans to completely modernize the smelter so it can reach its full capacity of 197,000 tonnes per annum in 2010.  The investment in the smelter’s modernization, including dredging of the Imo River, will amount to approximately USD 300 million.
