UC RUSAL launches modernization of world’s largest aluminium smelter
Moscow, 9 August 2007 – UC RUSAL, the world’s largest producer of aluminium and alumina, has announces the start of modernisation of Bratsk aluminium smelter, the world’s largest, to reduce environmental impact and increase efficiency. The first stage of the project will be completed in 2011, costing USD 350 million in investment.

UC RUSAL announces release of employees kidnapped in Nigeria
Moscow, 8 August 2007 - The six kidnapped Russian citizens, comprising five UC RUSAL employees and one employee's relative, were released today in Nigeria. They were taken hostage on June 3, 2007 in the company’s residential compound near the town of Ikot Abasi, Nigeria.

UC RUSAL opens Industrial Park Siberia branch in Komi Republic
Moscow, 16 July 2007 – UC RUSAL, the world’s largest producer of aluminium and alumina, today announces the launch of a new branch of Industrial Park Siberia in the town of Ukhta. The new plant will supply metal structures for the ongoing construction of a bauxite and alumina complex within the Komi Aluminium project. The plant is expected to produce about 51,000 tonnes of products worth over USD 100 mln.

UC RUSAL launches construction of Taishet Aluminium Smelter in Irkutsk region
Moscow, 25 June 2007 – United Company RUSAL, the world’s largest producer of aluminium and alloys, today announces the start of construction of the Taishet aluminium smelter in the Irkutsk region. The smelter’s annual capacity will total 750,000 tonnes of aluminium. The projected volume of investments into construction of the facility is approximately USD 2 bln.
