RUSAL leads the global aluminium industry with A- CDP climate rating
Moscow, December 15, 2020 – RUSAL (SEHK: 486; Moscow Exchange: RUAL), a leading global aluminium producer, is pleased to receive an "A-" rating for the first time in the aluminum industry following its annual assessment by the international organization Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
RUSAL got upgrade to the "A-" rating in response to its effective implementation of its strategy to reduce emissions, manage climate risks and ensure transparent communications in this area.
"The CDP "A -" rating is testament to the consistent efforts that RUSAL is making in the field of responsible attitude towards climate change. By improving our rating, we are increasing the competitiveness of our products as the CDP report is highly regarded by the world's most prominent customer companies and investors when purchasing products and making investment decisions. The carbon footprint of our products is one of the lowest in the world, and we continue to implement the best international practices in the field of sustainable development", said RUSAL’s Chief Executive Officer Evgenii Nikitin.
RUSAL has been cooperating with the CDP since 2015. The company continuously assesses and manages climate risks and reports to the CDP on annual basis. This February, the CDP completed its assessment of companies' climate reports for 2018, and RUSAL was amongst the 160 leading companies in the CDP rating out of over 4,800 companies that are actively engaging with its suppliers on climate change.
