RUSAL wins InnoESG Prize

Moscow, November 12, 2020 - RUSAL (SEHK: 486; Moscow Exchange: RUAL), a leading global aluminium producer, has won the InnoESG Prize for the second consecutive year, further highlighting the Company’s success in improving the world through its sustainability initiatives.

Launched in 2019, the award recognises companies around the world that have both innovatively reformed their core business to incorporate best practice ESG steps and simultaneously maintained high community engagement via business philanthropy. The InnoESG Prize is presented by the Society Next Foundation, and organised in coalition with UNESCO HK Global Pease Center, Lions Club HKIFC, Rotarian Action Group for Peace, and the Wofoo Social Enterprise for promoting sustainability.

Collecting the award for the second year running demonstrates RUSAL’s commitment to the principles of corporate social responsibility and best business practice across its employee, business partner, community and broader stakeholder relations.

Commenting on receiving the award, Oleg Mukhamedshin, RUSAL’s Director for Strategy, Business Development and Financial Market, said: “This award highlights the importance of our sustainable business model and the Company’s commitments to social engagement and philanthropy, all of which continue to play an integral part in RUSAL’s corporate strategy. For over 20 years, our ambitions both to improve the quality of life for local people in the regions in which we operate, and protect the environment, have been at the heart of RUSAL’s business plan and now as we look to the future these goals remain steadfast.”

Since it was founded in 2000, RUSAL has been consistently working to protect the environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support the development of the communities in which it operates. RUSAL finances projects aimed at developing urban infrastructure, improving sports facilities and advancing the quality of life for local people. The business also supports socially vulnerable groups through volunteering and social entrepreneurship, and has continued to develop education and healthcare systems across all regions of its operations. In 2019 alone, the business allocated more than US$30.9 million for social investment and charitable projects.

Moreover, RUSAL’s impressive record in the application of green technologies, its production of low carbon aluminium under the ALLOW brand and the business’ focus on sustainability makes the Company one of the ESG leaders in the metals industry.
