This is the most large-scale social programme of RUSAL, which has been implemented to improve the quality of life in the territories of the Company's operation through the development of urbanisation, the creation of new public and cultural spaces, the retrofitting of social infrastructure facilities and the organisation of cultural, developmental and sporting events. The RUSAL Territory programme has been implemented since 2010, and during this time more than 250 various social infrastructure facilities have been created and restored in 9 Russian regions. The key principles of the programme include: partnership, openness, sustainability and the equality of applicant rights for funding.
Since 2015, the main priority of the RUSAL Territory programme has been the comprehensive development of the urban environment, including the creation of advanced and comfortable public and cultural spaces, as well as the transition from small-scale projects of social infrastructure development to long-term development plans of cities and towns and replication of the best urban solutions.
Projects to develop public spaces and socio-cultural environment for the 'RUSAL Territory' programme are selected through a contest, in which local authorities of municipal entities may participate. The best initiatives are defined on the opinions of experts and on the results of voting by residents of the regions where RUSAL is present. Projects titled winners receive funding of up to RUB 50 mln.
More information about the programme is available on the website of RUSAL's Centre for Social Welfare for Local Communities.
